INTERACTIVE DRUM CIRCLE
The second-line parade leads everyone to a city square or park where the history and of Congo Square and Mardi Gras Indians is presented along with the tribal music heritage and traditions of Charleston. Drums, bells, and other percussion instruments are handed out to create the spontaneous community rhythm that encourages dancing in the circle. The family-friendly demonstration is open to the public and includes an ancestral libations ritual to honor the memory of loved ones.
